On the Alexa Smart Home team, you will have an enormous opportunity to impact the customer experience, design, and ship leading edge Alexa+ products and experiences that will be used every day by people you know. You will be hands on and have a strong understanding of design systems and best practices. As a storyteller, you will advocate for design excellence and help create meaningful value for our customers with our products.
Key job responsibilities
As a Sr. UX Designer for Alexa Smart Home, you will:
- Create world-class, user-centered designs through consideration of market research, business requirements, customer feedback, and usability study findings
- Translate business requirements into use cases and high-level customer experience requirements
- Design the information architecture, interface, and interaction flow of new voice, web, multi-modal, and mobile applications
- Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for voice and visual experiences
- Develop and maintain detailed user experience specifications
- Present design work to the user experience team, product team, executives, and external partners for review and feedback
- Work with our usability and business intelligence teams to assess and optimize new and existing features and frameworks
- Partner with engineering and science teams to ensure innovative voice and visual technologies provide a delightful customer experience
- Collaborate with other design team members on Alexa smart home experiences, frameworks, process, and best practices.
A day in the life
Each day, you'll connect and collaborate with designers across the Alexa and Smart Home teams. You’ll work directly with product managers to understand requirements, and develop design concepts that will be reviewed with leadership. You’ll also work with research, software, and science teams to deliver detailed visual, voice, and interaction specifications. While the environment will be fast-paced, you’ll always be embedded in a supportive community of team members who are ready to provide feedback and support. About the team
The Alexa Smart Home team works on foundational and innovative Alexa experiences that customers use to control their homes on Echo devices, via the Alexa app, Fire TV, and other modalities.

Basic Qualifications
- 6+ years of design experience
- Knowledge of best practices for information architecture and design
- Have an available online portfolio
- Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, VoiceFlow, or similar
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with UX design of complex workflows
- Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity
- Knowledge of usability principles and techniques
- Experience acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) and creating personas and journey maps

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
