Position Purpose
Working in close collaboration with the Select Genetics Virginia team, this position provides all human resource services, including recruitment and staffing, employee relations, performance management, compensation administration, benefits administration, employee development, and training, safety, and employee services. Will work collaboratively to best align HR practices with the evolving organization needs and team-oriented structure. This position will be a brand ambassador for the company’s unique company culture.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
Select Genetics presents a solid platform to serve customers on a national and international scale by providing quality poults, service, and innovation. Select Genetics is the leading supplier of poults to growers and companies across the world and has operations in eight US States. The HR Coordinator provides support for the HR function in the farms, hatchery, and transportation department. The position reports to and is supervised by the Human Manager.
+ Operates as a key resource and internal coach to leadership and employees in the development and implementation of highly effective human resource business policies, processes, and employment practices.
+ Responsible for facilitating employee recruitment and onboarding process.
+ Confers with managers and supervisors to identify talent needs, job specifications, and skills.
+ Ensures that human resource practices comply with federal and state laws.
+ Facilitates the extension of employment offers and the completion of all new employee recordkeeping processes.
+ Works collaboratively with leadership, managers, and staff to sustain strong work relationships, build morale, increase productivity, enhance employee engagement, and preserve talent retention.
+ Facilitates proactive communications with employees to keep employees aware of important information.
+ Facilitates the implementation, follow-through and documentation of disciplinary action interventions.
+ Facilitates employee terminations. Prepares and submits related documentation and conducts exit interviews.
+ Effectively monitoring and facilitating pay scale increases according to company policies.
+ Supports the company’s benefit program and responsible for administering annual benefit open enrollment process for location.
+ Conducts and/or facilitates required employee training.
+ Coordinates the workers compensation process the location.
+ Assists in preparation for insurance investigations.
+ Other duties and projects as assigned by direct supervisor.
+ Cross training of essential duties with other office personnel.
Principal Accountabilities
+ Understanding or willingness to learn HR principles and practices.
+ Proficient in computer-based systems.
+ Strong interpersonal, analytical and judgement skills required.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication English/Spanish skills required.
+ Demonstrate sound ethical decision making.
+ Ability to model core values as a representative of Select Genetics.
+ Ability to provide exceptional customer service with Select Genetics customers, employees, and the local community.
+ Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
+ Ensures confidentiality with Select Genetics and staff members.
+ Must be self-motivated and well organized with extreme attention to detail.
+ Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
+ Two-year associate degree; or 3+ years related HR experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
+ Proficiency with MS Office required.
+ Proven problem solving and change facilitation abilities.
Additional required skills and abilities include a customer-service orientation; the ability to successfully handle multiple demands simultaneously; strong time management and organizational skills; attention to detail; strong bilingual communication skills in English/Spanish including verbal, written and listening; the ability to read and interpret company policies and procedures, the ability to communicate and interact productively with all levels of employees, and internal and external customers; the ability to work under pressure; and, the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. The HR Coordinator will work collaboratively to best align HR practices with the evolving organization needs and team-oriented structure. This position will be a brand ambassador for Select Genetics unique company culture.
