Description

Tyler Houk is looking for an experienced Director of Accounting to oversee and enhance our financial operations, this role can be hybrid remote working three days a week out of either the companies Visalia or Fresno location. This role is pivotal in driving financial reporting accuracy, process improvement, and compliance while fostering strong collaboration across internal teams. The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in financial analysis, team leadership, and strategic process development.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and ensure the timely completion of month-end close processes in compliance with US GAAP standards.

• Develop and maintain robust financial reporting systems, budgets, and analytical tools to support business objectives.

• Lead and mentor a team of 20+ finance team members, fostering their growth and attention to detail.

• Collaborate with internal departments, including FP& A, credit, tax, and compliance, to streamline processes and achieve organizational goals.

• Manage the annual financial audit process, building and maintaining strong relationships with external auditors.

• Provide accurate and insightful financial analysis to support business managers, facility leaders, and commercial teams.

• Identify and implement opportunities for efficiency, automation, and process enhancements within the accounting function.

• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting system data for effective risk management and decision-making.

• Prepare customized financial reports and contribute to special projects as needed.

• Maintain in-depth knowledge of accounting policies and practices to address and resolve complex financial issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced certifications (e.g., CPA) are a plus.

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably within commodity merchandising or manufacturing industries.

• Strong understanding of trading profit and loss, mark-to-market accounting, and cost accounting principles.

• Proficiency with accounting systems such as Agris or similar platforms, as well as advanced Excel skills.

• Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and implement effective training programs.

• Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP and its practical application.

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.

• Adaptability and problem-solving skills to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
