The ACPE Certified Educator supervises at least two units of Clinical Pastoral Education in a network of hospitals that has a full-time Residency, Extended and Summer programs, in specialized settings such as acute medical care, mental health substance use disorder and behavioral health.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Responsible for upholding ACPE standards and SLUHN Spiritual Care Department guidelines when facilitating CPE units, including completing and registering all student final evaluations within 21 days of completion.

+ Coordinates with the Manager of Clinical Pastoral Education regarding onboarding of students, curriculum, and scheduling of CPE units.

+ In conjunction with the Network Director and the Manager of Clinical Pastoral Education, teaches educational programs and facilitates support relative to issues of spiritual care, pastoral counseling, ethics, and emotional dimensions of well-being for hospital staff, School of Nursing and graduate medical education programs, community groups and local clergy.

+ Provides pastoral counseling and spiritual and ritual care to patients and families in consultation with medical staff as needed.

+ Participates in the overnight on-call rotation as needed.

+ Participates in hospital committees, including the Professional Advisory Group of the Spiritual Care Department.

+ Participates in an ACPE peer group and Communities of Practice; upholds certification requirements, including peer review, continuing education, and attendance of conferences

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting up to 4 hours daily; 2 hours at a time. Walking up to 1 hour daily. Uses hands and fingers frequently. Rarely lifts or carries up to 10 pounds. Occasionally stoops, bends, squats, crouches or kneels. Rarely reaches above shoulder level. Hearing, as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing, as it relates to general vision.

EDUCATION:

Minimum of Graduate Theological Degree or its equivalent from an ATS accredited school is required. ACPE Associate Certified Educator or ACPE Certified Educator status is required.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 2 years of experience (CEC experience qualifies) supervising interns and/or residents in an acute care hospital setting, mental health substance use disorder and/or behavioral healthcare setting is required. Ordination and/or endorsement by a recognized faith group and maintains credentials of all applicable chaplaincy cognate groups is required.
