POSITION SUMMARY
Applying engineering and chemistry techniques in the improvement of quality and manufacturing processes and products and in the transition of new products and processes from R&D to production. Assist in equipment and processes design to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and to promote safety, quality and reliability. Assess current equipment methods and processes and makes recommendations for changes. Troubleshoot and repair equipment and processes. Shows results in reports. Applies themselves in laboratory setting as needed follows good GMP. May train personnel in equipment and method usage and processes. Performs work under minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned, as necessary.
Process Lab and New Product Development Support (50%)
+ Assist NPD projects as assigned and in compliance with Procedures, Programs, and Policies.
+ Assist with developing and executing Design of Experiments for pilot plant scale-up and production scale-up.
+ Analyze Design of Experiment data identifying results compared to expectations and opportunities for improvement.
Data Analysis / Technical Management (20%)
+ Analyze product/process data identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
+ Analyze product/process/quality data identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
+ Analyze the production requirements of products and ensure JDE1 data are correct.
+ Ensure all operations and processes comply with ISO/QMS requirements.
+ Develop work instructions and provide training on new and improved equipment and processes.
Plant Support (20%):
+ Assist in identifying, developing and implementing process improvement initiatives which reduce waste and non-value-added activities.
+ Plan, develop and implement quality and manufacturing process changes that yield improved Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE); production efficiencies, yields and rates.
+ Provide support on any production/product/quality issues as required.
+ Evaluate equipment and process capabilities and make recommendations on equipment design and selection.
+ Lead/direct the installation and start-up of new processes and equipment.
+ Develop a rapport with multiple Plant Leadership Teams, QA Team, and R&D personnel. Coordinate QA efforts with R&D and vice versa.
Pilot Plant Support (10%)
+ Operates and ensures pilot plant machines/production equipment is prepared for operation and installed following protocols and procedures and performs regular technical testing to ensure their safety and efficiency and ensures are functioning to specifications.
+ Executes required lab testing for experiments completed in the pilot plant.

Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
Specialized Skills and Experience:
+ Minimum of 4 – 9 years’ experience in a process manufacturing environment.
+ Self-starter, able to work alone with limited supervision.
+ Handles up to low/intermediate complex issues and problems and refers only the most difficult and complex issues to higher-level staff.
+ Assists other team members on up low complex issues.
+ Analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
+ Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
+ Highly organized in scheduling, executing responsibilities and prioritizing in a multitask environment.
+ Self-starter, able to work alone with limited supervision.
+ Team player - maintain a positive, cooperative attitude with all employees of LATICRETE and all customers.
+ Leadership skills.
+ Computer skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook. Mini-Tab or other similar software.
Travel Requirement:
+ Up to 50% (domestic and international).
+ Must have or be able to obtain a passport.
Physical Requirements:
+ Lift: Must be able to lift and/or carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
+ Push/Pull: Must be able to push/pull 25 pounds.
+ Standing: Must be able to stand at least 50-75% of the day.
+ Sitting: Must be able to sit 25-50% of the day.
+ Twisting/Bending: Must be able to Twist/bend 50-75% of the day.
