Description
Position Summary
TheQuality Control Managerplays a critical role in ensuring the success of field projects. This position involves overseeing and thoroughly documenting the quality control program to ensure compliance with contract requirements and established best practices. A major responsibility includes identifying areas for operational improvement and enhancing customer satisfaction. The goal is to drive project performance and outcomes that meet or exceed expectations.
Essential Responsibilities
+ Ensure on-site safety standards are maintained
+ Participate in project startup and coordination meetings
+ Implement and manage the Three-Phase Quality Control (QC) process, including oversight of QC Specialists, laboratory testing, and inspection activities
+ Lead Preparatory and Initial Phase meetings and maintain proper documentation
+ Notify appropriate parties in advance of scheduled QC meetings
+ Work with the Superintendent to stop non-compliant work and coordinate corrective actions
+ Prepare daily QC reports and photo documentation
+ Contribute to weekly project meetings
+ Review and manage submittals prior to use on site; maintain submittal register
+ Maintain up-to-date as-built drawings on site
+ Track testing activities and verify that all required testing meets contract specification
+ Review test reports and notify stakeholders of deficiencies with proposed corrective measures
+ Participate in punch-out, pre-final, and final inspections; submit and manage punch list completion
+ Ensure timely and accurate management of rework documentation
+ Oversee the full submittal process for compliance and distribution
+ Inspect materials and on-site work to verify contract compliance
+ Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Required Skills
+ Familiarity with EM 385-1-1 and site-specific compliance procedures
+ Professional presentation and communication skills
+ Ability to make sound decisions and follow through with accountability
+ Strong leadership and team-building skills
+ Working knowledge of construction practices, scheduling, and documentation
+ Excellent organizational and time management abilities
+ Strong verbal and written communication
+ Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
+ Capable of producing clear and timely reports
+ Fluent in English, both spoken and written
Education and Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Construction, or related discipline
+ Minimum of 5 years of relevant construction experience, including roles such as QC Manager, Superintendent, Project Manager, Project Engineer, or Construction Manager
+ At least 2 years of experience specifically as a QC Manager
+ Completion and maintenance of current “Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors” certification
+ 30-hour OSHA training (to be completed within 60 days of contract start)
+ 40-hour Contract Safety Awareness training (to be completed within 60 days of contract start)
+ Must be able to pass a security background check for work on designated federal sites
Reporting Structure
+ Reports to: Project Manager or Quality Director, depending on assignment
+ May include supervisory responsibilities based on project needs
Travel Requirements
+ 80–100% travel required
+ Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible for company vehicle insurance
+ Must pass background checks to access secure job sites
Physical Requirements
This position requires work in both field and office settings.
Field Work:
+ Exposure to active construction environments, including moving machinery and outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, humidity, inclement weather)
+ Noise levels may be high due to equipment operation.
+ Must be able to lift and move up to 40 lbs repeatedly
+ Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and bending throughout the workday
Office Work:
+ Sedentary duties in a climate-controlled environment with moderate noise levels
+ Regular use of computers and office equipment (phones, copiers, printers
+ Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
+ Occasional lifting of items up to 15 lbs, such as packages and supplies
