Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Barber Instructor - PT position in the Business and Public Service Technologies (BPST) Division. This position is part-time and located on Atlanta Tech's Main Campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.

Job Description:

• Develop and implement detailed lesson plans and curricula for barbering courses

• Instruct students on various barbering techniques, including haircutting, styling, and shaving

• Demonstrate proper use and maintenance of barbering tools and equipment

• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback

• Prepare students for state licensure exams and ensure compliance with state requirements

• Maintain an organized and safe classroom environment

• Coordinate and supervise hands-on training sessions and practical exams

• Stay updated with the latest trends and techniques in the barbering industry

• Evaluate and grade students' performance and practical skills

• Assist in the development and revision of training materials

• Foster a positive and engaging learning atmosphere

• Provide mentorship and career guidance to students

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Valid Barber License

+ Minimum of 3-5 years of professional barbering experience

+ Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

+ Experience with curriculum development and lesson planning

+ Previous experience as a barbering instructor or in a similar teaching role

+ Experience with digital learning tools and online education platforms

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to Minimum Qualifications, a Barber Instructor License with experience is preferred.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong organizational and time-management skills

• Proficiency in the use of barbering tools and equipment

• Basic computer skills for administrative tasks and record-keeping

• Advanced knowledge of current barbering techniques and trends

• Strong public speaking and presentation skills

Physical Demands

Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time; and may occasionally lift up to 25lbs. Exposure to chemicals and fumes is possible in the laboratory setting. A full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
