Job Title: R&D Chemist
Job Description
The R&D Chemist will conduct experimentation and analysis to formulate new or improved chemical systems for the coatings industry and various end user applications. This role involves working closely with a Sr. Chemist and/or Lab Manager to complete projects. Additionally, the Chemist will be responsible for laboratory maintenance.
Responsibilities
+ Design or improve products to meet customer specifications.
+ Follow scientific protocol/methodology and analyze formulation.
+ Investigate customer complaints.
+ Review and revise formulations to maintain product quality.
+ Compose written technical reports.
+ Evaluate raw materials.
+ Manage data integrity in project management software and ERP.
+ Participate in maintenance of ISO systems.
+ Occasionally travel to customer sites.
+ Transfer hazardous wastes to the satellite hazardous waste area as needed.
+ Ensure compliance with hazardous waste container labeling requirements.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in sciences.
+ At least 1 year of R&D experience in a related industry (chemical, paints, coatings, adhesives, etc.)
+ Proficiency in chemistry and formulation.
+ Experience in wet chemistry and analytical chemistry.
+ Research and development skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in the coatings or paints industry is a plus but not required.
+ Ability to formulate products.
Work Environment
The work schedule is the first shift from Monday to Friday. The company is growing significantly, with both new business and the return of old customers.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
