GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Development Associate (DA) is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the Chief Development Officer (CDO). The DA is responsible for coordinating and implementing strategies that attract and retain individual and corporate support for WYH and its sister agency (Equinox), including direct mail and digital appeals. The Associate assists the CDO in managing existing relationships with both WYH and Equinox partners through stewardship while expanding the portfolio of individual and corporate donors through research, cultivation and solicitation activities. The Associate also manages one donor database (Raiser’s Edge NXT), used for both affiliated agencies and reports on progress-against-goals for individual, corporate and foundation giving. The Associate will provide support to the CDO and Development Consultants (Grants and Capital Campaign), as needed, with research, applications, and gift/pledge management.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Support Chief Development Officer in the development and implementation of the annual Development Plan
+ Help meet/exceed annual goals for meaningful contacts with donors and prospective donors, as well as annual financial goals
+ Assist the CDO with researching, identifying and cultivating new leads for individual, corporate and foundation donors; and developing revenue-generating and stewardship strategies for select donor groups and prospects
+ Provide strategic support to CDO in expanding relationships with current partners and vendors,and in identifying new corporate and community partnerships that represent growth opportunities
+ Accompany leadership or members of the Board on development calls/visits, when CDO is unavailable and when appropriate and required
+ Coordinate matching gifts program and/or workplace giving campaigns
+ Maintain mailing lists; coordinate mailings with mail house
+ Track assignments and activities through the use of Raiser’s Edge NXT database system, ensuring that assigned actions are completed and regularly updated, and reports are generated as necessary
+ Enter gifts into database, generate pledge reminders, gift acknowledgements and donor reports; Prepare deposits and reports for Finance for WYH donations; prepare and make Development bank deposits for Equinox donations; Track event/appeal revenue and expenses; generate appropriate revenue-expense reports for Development team to evaluate effectiveness of efforts; generate monthly metrics and monthly reconciliation report for both WYH and Equinox Finance Departments.
+ Lead coordination of agency-sponsored events, with support from the Development & Marketing team, including combined annual signature fundraiser, ThanksGathering: A Legacy Celebration; as well as donor and public relations events (i.e. groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, grand openings, donor recognition receptions, etc.)
+ Be responsible for other development duties and responsibilities for both Equinox and WYH as assigned
+ Demonstrates excellence in both internal and external customer service.
+ Understands and is able to effectively communicate HIPAA compliance, corporate compliance and client confidentiality.
+ Ensures and/or remains in compliance with local, state, and federal regulation, i.e. DHHS HRSA and NYSDOH, and all accreditation standards (e.g. Joint Commission and NCQA-PCMH).
+ Adheres to the National Patient Safety Goals as defined by the Joint Commission and Whitney M. Young Jr. Health Center.
+ Completes other duties as assigned.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates Degree required. Three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience demonstrating successful development experience in donor relations and event coordination may be substituted for a degree; computer proficiency in donor database systems and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher; excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; excellent organizational skills; independent, self-starter who is highly motivated and creative; holds valid NYS license, safe driving record, and access to reliable transportation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Prior experience in non-profit fund development; proficiency with Raiser’s Edge NXT

Salary range: $23.00 - $26.50 hourly
