*JOB SUMMARY* The Calendar Clerk assists in the preparation of the Senate and Joint Calendars and other documents related to Senate procedures at the direction of the Clerk of the Senate ("Clerk"). The Calendar Clerk reports to the Clerk and Assistant Clerk. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Create and continually update and maintain content for inclusion in the Senate Calendar (Orders of the Day), for review by the Clerk, to ensure members and the public are informed of the body’s legislative agenda each day. * Ensure that each section of the Senate session calendar includes the correct matters, any amendments from the House appended to a matter, the committee history jurisdiction, and any pending procedural motions. * Create and maintain the Joint Session Calendar for all Constitutional Conventions. * Assist in and attend all Senate Sessions at the direction of the Clerk. * Distribute the Calendar before formal Senate sessions. * Process committee reports filed in the Senate. * Enter Senate and Joint Session Roll Calls electronically into the LAWS system. * Prepare and process Senate amendments filed by members. * Prepare, edit, and proof materials for the Senate Journal and other legislative materials to ensure the accuracy of Senate publications. * Manage and process all bills and resolves on final passage and work directly with Clerk and Governor’s legislative staff to ensure timely delivery. * Maintain list of matters before the Senate Rules Committee. * Maintain Bill History on legislative actions * Review and correct legislation filed in the Clerk’s office in preparation to print and move to committee. * Review and publish the Senate Agenda on the public website. *Other Duties and Responsibilities May Include:* * Respond to requests from members and staff of the Senate, General Court, other agencies, professional organizations, and the general public. * Docket and process reports and communications from outside executive branch agencies, commissions, and task forces. * Perform other duties as assigned by the Clerk and Assistant Clerk. *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* 1. One to two years of college or technical school and at least 2 years of relevant work experience, or any of the following combinations of education and experience: 1. Bachelor’s degree; or 2. At least 4 years of relevant work experience. 2. Experience in the Massachusetts General Court preferred. 3. Knowledge of the legislative process and procedure, and related terminology. 4. Knowledge of municipal, state, and federal political processes. 5. Temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, positive, and professional manner. 6. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 7. Demonstrated experience with basic office equipment and systems including telephones, photocopiers, email, and office computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite and remote meeting platforms. 8. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with a variety of stakeholders. 9. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 10. Ability to think critically and work both independently and as part of a team. 11. Ability to produce quality work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment 12.
