    Intern, IT Security

     

    _Wage Rate = $17.00 per hour_

     

    The Intern, IT Security will learn and support the administering and implementation of processes within the IT Security programs.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS** **:

    + Support threat and incident response efforts. Assist in security event monitoring/analysis and the investigation of security incidents.

    + Support the cybersecurity team in testing, vulnerability assessments, metric tracking, penetration testing, and audits.

    + Help maintain and update cybersecurity documentation, including policies, procedures, and incident response plans.

    + Research emerging cybersecurity threats and trends to provide insights and recommendations.

    + Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure the alignment of security practices with organizational goals.

    + Perform other tasks and projects as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** **:

    Education & Experience:

    Student currently enrolled in an accredited university degree program that is related to Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Electrical Engineering.

    Skills of Interest:

    + Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, threats, and vulnerabilities.

    + Familiarity with security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls, endpoint security).

    + Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.

    + High level of integrity and confidentiality.

    + Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

    + Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

    **Other Job Characteristics** :

     

    Work a minimum of 10 hours weekly during the academic year and work full-time during the summer (40 hours per week). Workdays are flexible to accommodate student schedules within normal business hours. This position is located in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
