Job Summary
Uses ability as a skilled specialist in accordance with applicable policies and procedures to complete complex tasks in creative and effective ways. May participate in written and/or oral presentations to clients, suppliers, visitors and technical representatives to disseminate information. Assists in preparing in-depth reports for Project Managers.
Technician Specialty Area Definitions:
A = Social Sciences, defined as those responsible for the study and application of the principles of sociology, psychology, anthropology, political science, survey research, and related subjects.
B = Natural Sciences, defined as those responsible for the study of living organisms and inanimate natural objects, including biochemistry, biology, botany, ecology, environmental science, microbiology, physiology, zoology, physics, chemistry, geology, materials and related subjects.
C = Applied Sciences and Engineering, defined as those responsible for performing engineering duties by applying the principles and technology of chemistry, physics, biomechanics, human factors, infrastructure, or related subjects. Includes, but is not limited to, chemical, electrical, mechanical, biomedical, civil, human factors, and industrial engineers.
D = Quality Management, defined as those responsible for monitoring, evaluating and improving quality to ensure consistency and effectiveness of processes and/or systems as well as proper controls while ensuring regulatory compliance.
E = Medical Sciences, defined as those in the fields of Pathology, Histopathology, and Medical Laboratory Science; subsection of Natural Sciences, providing testing and research to treat and diagnose disease.
Responsibilities
+ Works on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment, creativity and initiative are required to identify the problem and provide input into a solution.
+ Provides input and recommendations to Project Managers on time and staff resources. Trains and guides staff members in order to complete work assignments. May provide input on performance reviews. May act as a working leader by assigning and reviewing work of less experience staff members.
+ Performs moderately complex analysis to verify the accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of project work. Identifies ways to control and/or reduce fixed costs without negatively impacting client expectations. Contributes to the technical planning of project work including recommending and implementing improved methods for new approaches. May provide input and justification for capital equipment purchases. Responsible for various types of equipment and oversight of facilities.
+ Completes complex tasks under minimal supervision or guidance. Plans and performs project work from a basic understanding of objectives and work statements. Tracks progress against identified milestones and reports to supervisor any deviations from the plan.
Key Qualifications
+ Associate degree in related field; 7 years of applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.
+ May be expected to pursue various certifications or continuing educational units, as needed.
+ Demonstrates the ability to solve complex problems.
+ Exhibits technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills to complete complex assignments.
+ Ability to generate and follow procedures of significant complexity.
+ Demonstrates knowledge and understanding behind applications by creatively troubleshooting and correctly interpreting results.
+ Identifies specific ways to improve work processes for completing project and non-project tasks.
+ Performs complex analysis of data and provides input for reports.
