    Job Summary

    This role will serve as the Quality Assurance Manager for American Electric Power’s (AEP’s) program to deploy new nuclear generating facilities, and will satisfy the requirements of its NQA-1 Quality Assurance Program Description(s) (QAPDs) for its affiliated companies, excluding Indiana Michigan Power Company’s QAPD that currently governs Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant. It will report to the Vice President New Nuclear, as described in relevant QAPD(s), which is currently functionally served by AEP’s Executive Vice President Projects & Services.

    Job Description

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    - Plan, organize, coordinate, lead, direct, and supervise personnel in the performance of assigned work activities.

     

    - Manage the recommendations regarding the review of specific improvements to processes, designs, systems, methods, procedures, or applications, including costs and benefits.

     

    - Manage the planning; coordination; and monitoring of the analyses, interpretation, preparation, and distribution of technical and statistical information and reports, economic studies, improvement requisitions, service orders, contracts, purchase requisitions, operational and instructional recommendations, specifications, and other documents related to the department.

     

    - Develop, communicate, and monitor department goals and performance standards which are consistent with the nuclear generation goals and objectives.

     

    - Maintain a thorough working knowledge and ensure that employees are kept informed of or involved with best practices related to the assigned department.

     

    - Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with the policies, practices, standards, and rules of the Company and regulations and procedures as required by the regulating agencies.

    MINIMUM REQIREMENTS:

    **Education** : **Bachelor's degree** in any engineering discipline or engineering technology, science, or management science.

    **Work Experience** : **Twelve years** ' experience in a nuclear power plant **with eight years' management** experience.

     

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Physical demand level is Sedentary

     

    - Demonstrated leadership ability to effectively direct, supervise, and coordinate the work of other personnel.

     

    - Demonstrated leadership ability to effectively communicate and present ideas both orally and in writing, including making presentations and recommendations to senior management.

     

    - Strong interpersonal skills.

     

    - Broad knowledge of nuclear standards and nuclear policies, practices, and procedures.

    Physical Demands:

    - May perform walk downs in plant environment, which may include exposure to: heat, cold, noise, and radiation.

     

    - Education, experience, licensing, and certification requirements of this position conform to **ANSI N18.1 - 1971and ANSI/ANS-3.1-1993. 7** . For use with rotational assignments only; the salary grade of the incumbent will be based on a review of the responsibilities assigned during the rotational assignment.

     

    INITIAL POSITION / BASE SALARY FUNDING: approximately ($133,000 - $172,000/year). In addition to base salary, AEP offers competitive Total Rewards including: discretionary annual/long-term incentives, 401(k), pension, health insurance, vacation, educational assistance, etc.

    $132,562.00-172,331.00 USD

     

    The Physical Demand Level for this job is: S – Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
