    HOURS INFO: A/ Shift (7:30am-3:30pm)

    Job Summary and Essential Job Duties

     

    The Coating Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining machinery related to the production of thin film coatings on optics in a cleanroom environment. Performs scheduled equipment maintenance, machine installations, upgrades and repairs. Analyzes and solves technical maintenance problems. Pending approval of the Maintenance Team Leader, may arrange contracts for vendor services as relates to maintenance activities .

    Through On the Job Training (OJT), Coating Maintenance Technicians will:

    + Perform required electrical, plumbing, and mechanical support for the cleanroom facility and production equipment.

    + Required to gown up to class 1000 clean room requirements.

    + Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production hours.

    + Analyze equipment failures; determine cause(s) and make necessary adjustments and repairs.

    + Maintain spare parts inventory, storage and organization and ensure spare parts are ordered in a timely manner.

    + Writing and performing preventative maintenance procedures using a variety of Microsoft applications and digital photography.

    + Constructing and maintaining a PM schedule for all major pieces of equipment in the optical coating department and executing on it.

    + Log projects, repairs and upgrades to aid in communication and future efforts.

    + Clean and maintain coating machinery and shop workspace.

    + Read and interpret blueprints, specification sheets and schematics.

    + Suggest changes to improve process, product, or morale within the company.

     

    Advancement through the Coating Maintenance Technician ranks is attained via increasing levels of education, experience, industrial skills, math skills, computing skills, responsibility and leadership potential and effectiveness.

    Education Requirements:

    + A High School Diploma or GED required. AS or BS desirable.

    Minimum Requirements:

    + Experience in Electrical, Plumbing, fabrication, HVAC repair, and forklift operation are also desired.

    + Familiarity with basic Microsoft PC applications are necessary.

    + 24-hour on-call duty is desired.

    + Ability to work on Ladders and under machinery.

    + Ability to lift heavy components into the machinery.

    + Ability to follow directions and prioritize with attention to detail.

    + Ability to work in a challenging, fast paced environment with good time management skills.

    + Analytical troubleshooting / problem solving.

    Work Requirements:

    Physical Demands:

    + While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch: and talk and hear.

    + The job may involve prolong periods of sitting/standing.

    + Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

    + Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.

    Work Environment:

    + This position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level can vary from quiet to loud frequencies.

    + May involve the use of oils and solvents.

    + Generally works in a clean environment and works to maintain the environment as such.

    + May require area specific safety training

    + The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes

    + May be assigned to various production areas as needs require.
