$65,000.00 - $70,000.06 Annually $2,500.00 - $2,692.31 Bi-weekly
Position Summary
This position is assigned to SES under the provision of Section 110.205 (2)(w), Florida Statutes, as confidential. This position supports the functions of the Agency Inspector General and Director of Audit within the Office of Inspector General (OIG).
In accordance with Section 20.055 (6)(c), Florida Statutes, the Inspector General and staff shall have access to any records, data, and other information of the State Agency as deemed necessary to carry out the duties of the position, including information exempt in Chapter 119, Florida Statutes. The incumbent actively obtains, analyzes, and maintains highly confidential information, and is responsible for handling such information with discretion to ensure its integrity and confidentiality.
The Work You Will Do
Performing independent internal audits in accordance with the auditing standards as outlined in Chapter 20.055, Florida Statutes. The types of audits that could be conducted are financial, compliance, performance, contract, information systems, and management reviews. Additionally, performing annual financial reviews of local family care councils to ensure the local councils exercise care and prudence in the expenditure of funds and comply with State expenditure requirements, pursuant to Section 393.502 (9), Florida Statutes. Specific tasks include:
+ Developing assignment scopes, methodologies, and audit programs.
+ Preparing, researching, and designing evaluations of programs, systems, controls, policies, procedures and other functions using audit and analytical techniques.
+ Analyzing supporting audit documentation, interviewing responsible management, drawing logical conclusions, and developing appropriate findings and recommendations.
+ Preparing through, complete and accurate documentation of work performed, oral and written briefings, and draft and final reports.
Conducting follow-up reports to identify the progress made in implementing corrective actions in response to reported audit findings and recommendations. These reports will be compiled and submitted for supervisory review and communication to the Agency's Director, Chief Inspector General, and Auditor General.
Assisting the Director of Audit as liaison with external auditors, provide advice to Agency personnel on the appropriate response to external audit findings, coordinate entrance and exit conferences and audit responses, and track all corrective actions related to external and internal audit findings.
Assisting the Director of Audit in conducting the annual comprehensive risk assessment of the Agency to determine areas with the highest risk of fraud, waste, or abuse. Risk assessment results are used to select audit projects required under Section 20.055 (6)(1), Florida Statutes, as well as inform Agency management of areas of concern.
Assisting the Director of Audit with preparing the OIG annual report.
Assisting the Inspector General and Director of Audit in the development of policies and procedures; reviews draft policies and procedures for compliance with applicable rules and laws.
Providing backup assistance to the Investigations Section in conducting APO employee reference checks on OIG files and answering the OIG complaint hotline. Additionally, assisting the Investigations Section or the Inspector General in the performance of investigations or special assignments.
Maintaining and improving professional knowledge and skills through participation in staff meetings, staff development activities, continuing education training opportunities, professional networking, and review of office literature, reference materials and current periodicals. Specifically, obtaining at least forty hours of continuing professional education every two years that directly enhances the incumbent's professional proficiency.
Performing other related duties as necessary.
This position requires some travel.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Must have a valid Driver's License.
+ A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, business administration, business management, computer science or related field is required. Six years of relevant auditing experience may substitute for the required degree.
+ Two years of experience in an Inspector General's office, an Internal Audit office, or an External Audit office is required. A master's degree from an accredited college or university or possession of a CPA, CIA, CISA, or Certified Inspector General Auditor certificate can substitute for one year of the required experience.
+ Experience writing audit findings and reports is required.
+ Experience with the following applications is required: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of:
+ Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and Adobe.
+ Accounting and auditing principles and procedures.
+ The International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and Government Auditing Standards, the Principles and Standards for Offices of Inspector General issued by the Association of Inspectors General, and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association's Standards.
+ The methods of compiling and analyzing data.
+ Basic mathematics.
+ The organization and mission.
+ Applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, especially sections 20.055, 112.3187, 282.318, and 393, Florida Statutes.

Direct Deposit Program
As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in the State Personnel System is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program. Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. This will be accomplished by Electronic Funds Transfer. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.
Background Screening Requirement
