    Do you love lifestyle, culture and entertainment writing? Do you want to share all your favorite things about West Michigan with others? WOOD TV8 is looking for a digital lifestyle content creator to join our team and write about events, activities, entertainment and personalities in our community.

     

    The digital lifestyle content creator reports to the digital director and is part of the station’s digital team. The position requires someone with strong content development and management abilities, and a desire to work autonomously. This person will manage the lifestyle digital content calendar and publish 3-5 stories daily M-F. The goal of this position is to help grow woodtv.com’s reputation as a place to find creative and engaging lifestyle content.

     

    This individual will also work on sponsored and partner content as needed and support the Maranda brand.

     

    In addition to having a strong interest in lifestyle and culture content, the digital content creator must be able to write and edit following the AP Style guide and follow journalistic guidelines and ethics in their content. This person should also be comfortable appearing on air to promote their work.

    Position Responsibilities:

    + Produce 3-5 stories per shift including Maranda content, sponsored and partner content, and West Michigan Guide content.

    + Manage the lifestyle digital content editorial calendar and communicate with digital news and eightWest teams about content that should be cross promoted.

    + Proofread and edit lifestyle content.

    + Promote and distribute lifestyle content on social media platforms by creating posts, videos, graphics, reels, etc.

    + Produce Maranda guides and other seasonal guides and lists.

    + Contribute to long-term and special digital projects as needed.

    + Willingness to be on-air to promote lifestyle content distributed on WOOD TV+, woodtv.com and social media.

    + Potentially help create a weekly lifestyle half hour for WOOD TV+, with the possibility of acting as the main talent for this product.

    + Other duties as assigned

    Skills & Experience Requirements:

    + Bachelor’s degree in media, journalism, English, or communications with a focus on digital content creation preferred.

    + Strong writing, copyediting, grammar and story organization skills and experience researching, interviewing and writing original articles.

    + Strict journalistic standards, including vetting, pitching and ethical treatment of the stories.

    + Engaging headline writer and social content creator.

    + Understanding of SEO and an interest in utilizing analytics and social trends to develop engaging content.

    + Strong communicator.

    + Ability to work autonomously with little direction/daily supervision.

    + Proficiency in WordPress and MS Office. Experience with OBS or other streaming technologies, preferred.

    + On-air experience is a plus.

    + A desire to learn and grow, and a willingness to adapt to new responsibilities as the industry changes is a must.

    Work Hours:

    This is a full-time M-F position.
