    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Two (2) years of full-time experience working as a bookkeeper, in banking, or in a closely related financial position

    + Knowledge of accounting practices

    + Experience using QuickBooks

    + Experience working for a government agency, non-profit, or cultural organization

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    The Government Operations Consultant I position requires independent work assisting management with bookkeeping and financial and administrative tasks to support the citizen support organizations of the Florida Division of Historical Resources. Duties include:

     

    + Work with Division of Historical Resources citizen support organizations to file and track all income/expenditures, recording to appropriate fund accounts. Process end-of-month transfers prior to reconciliation with an independent accounting firm. Pay invoices in a timely manner. Record transactions in QuickBooks. Obtain appropriate signatures on checks. Track banking statements. Prepare Income and Expense Reports for designated program areas. Prepare Endowment Reports prior to monthly reconciliation with independent accounting firm. Ensure credit card bills are paid and receipts retained for audit purposes.

    + Exchange money at the bank for museum stores. Assist the store manager with administrative tasks and participate in store inventory as needed.

    + Assist with preparation for quarterly board meetings, including generating profit & loss reports, balance sheets, and other reports, and preparation of other needed materials and notebooks. Create financial reports as requested. Prepare for and assist with the annual audit of CSO accounts. File and maintain CSO financial records. Assist the CSO Development Director and museum directors with administrative work related to financial operations.

    + Provide assistance to CSO membership program, working with directors of the museums and the development director, to include maintaining the membership database, generating correspondence, and record keeping.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    + Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and QuickBooks;

    + Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices;

    + Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;

    + Ability to follow policies and maintain established standards;

    + Ability to work effectively with other staff and the general public;

    + Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information
