Job Title: Laboratory Technician (Full-Time, Temporary)

Reports To: Elizabeth West Niedringhaus

SUMMARY:

The West Lab is seeking a research technician to help with day-to-day maintenance of the lab including assistance with experiments in behavioral neuroscience related to decision-making, substance use disorders and Alzheimer’s disease in rats.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

+ Assist with behavioral studies in rats including operant (either i.v. drug self-administration or natural food rewards) and pavlovian conditioning

+ Analyze electrophysiological and behavioral data

+ Help with histological processing of brain tissue

+ Prepare chemical reagents and maintain records

+ Assist with maintenance of IACUC protocols, laboratory equipment, and safety protocols

+ Work professionally and collegially with others

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in a neuroscience, psychology, biology or related discipline. Previous research experience with the techniques and skills listed above is required. Computer literacy and strong organizational and communication skills are preferred.

This is a two month Full-Time, Temporary Grant Funded position (with the possibility of an extension after the two months).
