Job Description
The Student Programming Assistant provides support for the Office of Student Life, including front-desk, clerical, and programmed activities.
Duties include, but are not limited to, welcoming visitors to the Student Life Office and providing general information, establishing and maintaining files, performing general clerical duties, assisting with programming development, marketing, setup and staffing, giving office tours to prospective and current students and visitors, monitor food pantry and collection donation baskets across campus, and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. Work is generally performed on the College campus unless otherwise specified.
Required Education
High school diploma or GED; must be currently enrolled as credit student in good standing at HCC and be at least 18 years of age.
Required Experience
No prior experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
+ Computer skills in MS Office programs including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
+ Ability to work within a team environment
+ Ability to think creatively, critically, and problem-solve
+ Willingness to take initiative
+ Strong communication skills and ability to maintain a professional demeanor
+ Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
+ Demonstrated leadership experience
+ Customer service experience
+ Social media and marketing knowledge
**Hours per Week** 9
General Weekly Work Schedule
Work hours are flexible, up to 9 hours per week, and can be arranged to fit the student’s class schedule. Work hours will be scheduled during the period of Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional Saturdays and/or evenings with advance notice.
