PURPOSE:
As a Senior Area General Manager in Oncology, you are responsible for delivering top-line targets by effectively leading and managing a dynamic cross-functional customer-facing team within your business unit. You will manage a cost base consisting of personnel and flexible spend, making necessary trade-offs to maximize impact. With a deep understanding of the specific needs of healthcare practitioners and healthcare systems within Oncology across multiple products and tumor types, you will drive customer and patient-centric outcomes while ensuring performance goals are met. Extensive collaboration with HQ and other stakeholders is required to drive performance outcomes.
The Senior Area General Manager in Oncology will cover the South Texas territory. Travel up to 50% and candidate must be domicilied within (or within reasonable commute) to the territory.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Accountable for achieving revenue goals for the area; execute comprehensive strategies and initiatives to drive revenue growth and market share in the region;
+ Develop and lead a high-performing team in the business unit, including sales representatives, key account managers, and other specialized roles as deemed necessary;
+ Regularly assess and determine the size and composition of the team based on market needs;
+ Embody the key elements of being an outstanding leader—visionary, architect, coach, and catalyst; develop a One Team approach with a mindset of shared accountability within the team;
+ Coach and develop team members to help them realize their full potential;
+ Gain and apply a deep understanding of relevant markets, business models, strategic priorities, future direction, and financial drivers;
+ Define the Regional strategy and priorities in collaboration with the cross-functional and HQ team; manage a portfolio of Oncology brands in Prostate and Targeted Medicine and dynamically allocate resources to maximize impact;
+ Develop long-term relationships with influential customers to address current and future business opportunities and advance brand(s) adoption;
+ Lead and orchestrate initiatives that are national in scope, acting as an intermediary with the VP Sales leader, cross-functional teams and collaborating with other Sr. Area General Managers ensuring field deployment excellence and strategy;
+ Oversee and coordinate appropriate allocation of specialized support resources across other area businesses.
WHO YOU ARE:
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
+ Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree;
+ Demonstrated strength in coaching and mentoring teams/peers; helping others to meet or exceed their goals, targets, and other responsibilities;
+ High level of business and financial acumen; ability to identify strategies with greatest business impact; demonstrated success in formulating and implementing business plans in a highly matrixed, cross-functional environment;
+ Thorough understanding of health systems, customer segments, regional market dynamics, and KOL development within the therapeutic area(s);
+ Willing and able to travel routinely on a weekly basis;
+ Current/prior experience leading specialized support teams and/or leadership positions managing multiple levels within the organization; must have demonstrated a strong ability to lead without authority in a matrixed organization;
+ Demonstrated experience leading national workstreams, with proven ability to manage competing priorities and collective business needs;
+ Experience in working in or part of operational roles such as incentive compensation planning, learning and development, medical, account management, etc;
+ Deep understanding of national & regional business strategies, with proven ability to influence field deployment strategies;
+ Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Oncology expertise preferred;
+ 8+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech sector with roles of increasing responsibility in sales, account management, market access, brand management, commercial operations, medical, etc.;
+ People leadership and/or cross-functional experiences strongly preferred;
+ Experience in managing budgets, negotiating for resources, and maximizing the return on investment preferred;
+ Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams strongly preferred.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $226359.20 and $339538.80. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..
This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevantexperience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
