    The New York University Translational Research Center has Postdoctoral position available to investigate the role of cancer-nerve interactions in cancer or cancer-associated pain. Individuals with minimal experience but demonstrate passion to the research area and quick-learning ability are encouraged to apply.

    Responsibilities:

    + Perform experiments independently as well as under guidance; recording, analyzing and formatting experimental data

    + Independently prepare experimental reports and manuscripts, exhibit excellent writing skills.

    + Assist in Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Institutional Biological Committee (IBC) amendment

    + Mentoring students and provide training/orientation to new lab members if needed

    + Order and catalog supplies, and reagents, maintain chemical and tissue sample inventory.

    + Maintain cleanliness of work area and adhere to quality and safety standards; ensure disposal of hazardous and infectious materials; adhere to infection control procedures.

    Specifically, we are looking for motivated team members that are highly skilled in one or more of the following areas:

    + Electrophysiology (whole-cell, slice recordings, etc).

    + Knowledge and expertise in mitochondrial biology (transmission electron microscopy, seahorse assays, other mitochondrial functional assays).

    + Mechanobiology techniques (atomic force microscopy, optical tweezers, rheometry, compression tests, etc.)

    + In vivo two-photon imaging.

    + Other skills that are preferred but not required include: in vivo behavioral (pain, sensory/motor) testing, cell/tissue culture, IHC/IF, calcium imaging, in situ hybridization, ELISA, flow cytometry.

     

    In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $62,500 - $65,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

    REQUIRED

    Minimal education: PhD in neuroscience/biology/biomedical engineering related field. Profound knowledge in pain, mechanobiology, cancer biology, or mitochondrial biology is highly desired.

    Required Experience:

    Proficient in computer skills; experienced with various laboratory procedures and protocol amendment; an ability to use a variety of laboratory equipment; experience working with animals; good writing and communication skills.
