Position: EMS Coordinator
Department: EMS Outreach & Education
Shift: 8AM-5PM
Status: Part-time/ 48 hours per pay period
Facility: Premier System Support/ Miami Valley Hospital
The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Coordinator serves as the liaison between Premier Health’s Emergency Departments (ED) and prehospital Emergency Medical Services partners to enhance communication, identify educational opportunities, and improve quality outcomes of services rendered in the emergency setting. Furthermore, the EMS Outreach Coordinator serves as a resource for Premier Health staff and physicians regarding prehospital issues. This position supports the system EMS outreach of Premier Health to include but not limited to Trauma, CareFlight, Neurosciences, OB, and Cardiac.
The EMS Outreach Coordinator maintains a presence in the Premier Health Emergency Departments to enable informal communication, provide real-time education, and build relationships with EMS and Emergency Department providers. This individual will review EMS and Emergency Department patient care records to identify trends and opportunities for improvement as well as provide education to pre-hospital providers. This individual identifies opportunities to improve the Premier Health EMS Center of Excellence program and works with hospital leadership and other key stakeholders to advocate for and implement changes.
The EMS Outreach Coordinator will facilitate and deliver EMS educational programming, including continuing education classes for EMS, EMS refresher courses, ITLS, AHA as well online distance learning. These activities will span the spectrum, ranging from identifying areas of need through quality assurance/quality improvement activities, program required content, and developing and delivering new programming.
The EMS Coordinator will maintain State of Ohio Paramedic certification and clinical competency and provide clinical care with the approved EMS protocols, adopted by the EMS Center of Excellence, in order support Premier Health’s event medicine offerings. Additionally, the EMS coordinators will provide services at community events from time-to-time as assigned.
Education
**Minimum Level of Education Required:** Associate degree
Additional requirements:
**Type of degree** : EMS or healthcare related field
**Preferred educational qualifications** : Baccalaureate Degree preferred
**Position specific testing requiremen** t: Eligible to obtain a commercial driver’s license and appropriate insurance for a commercial vehicle preferred. Must complete BLS, ACLS, and ITLS instructor within 1 year of employment; NIMS 100, 700, and 800 within 6 months of hire
Licensure/Certification/Registration
+ Certified Paramedic in the State of Ohio
+ State of Ohio EMS Instructor within 1 year.
+ BLS
+ ACLS
+ ITLS within 180 days of hire
Experience
**Minimum Level of Experience Required:** 5 - 7 years of job related experience
**Prior job title or occupational experience:** EMT-P or EMS Coordinator; EMS field experience within previous 3 years of hire.
**Prior specific functional responsibilities:** Scheduling, Planning, Providing EMS Education, PI/QA
**Preferred** **experience:** Previous employment as an EMS Coordinator preferred. Experience with marketing preferred. RN/EMT-P preferred. Previous experience providing emergency medical care in an out of hospital setting. Familiarity with Greater Miami Valley EMS Protocols
