Histology Technician - YH Pathology - Nights

Schedule: Full Time

Full Time (80 hours/pay period)

Nights

10:30p or 11:00p start Sunday thru Thursday

General Summary

Performs a variety of technical and general duties. Functions in one or more laboratory division.

Duties and Responsibilities

+ Performs a variety of routine and specialized histology techniques in concurrence with established laboratory policies and procedures, trains staff in proper technique

+ Supports the preparation of microscopic slides including tissue processing, paraffin block sectioning and H&E staining

+ Produces high-quality slides from frozen or fixed tissues, including trimming, embedding, processing, sectioning using a microtome/cryostat, and staining with appropriate stains.

+ Performs equipment maintenance, reagent recycling/reclamation and efficient use of the pathology laboratory information system and specimen tracking system., troubleshoots equipment

+ Enters or retrieves data from established computer files.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

+ High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:

+ 3 years Relevant experience. Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

+ Good communication and computer skills.
