This position can support hybrid work. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to our local market. (MD, DE, VA, PA, DC & WV).
This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Residence in order to meet ITAR requirements.
**The annual salary range for this level role is $195,000 - $215,000.** The posted salary range represents a general guideline; however, STScI considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as internal pay equity, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's experience, education, and skill, and current market conditions.

Role/About the Position
The Portfolio Management Office Division Head will provide direction and leadership to transform the existing project management office into an entity that can provide a top-level view of strategic and operational priorities, activities and goals, align and tracking resources to match, identify and mitigate major risks and challenges and work across the Institute to find efficiencies to accomplish Institute goals and priorities.
Responsibilities:
+ Provide strategic and tactical leadership to the Portfolio Management Office;
+ Lead in the development of systems and processes to monitor the Institute’s overall portfolio (scientific missions, institutional priorities and strategic goals);
+ Support and provide leadership in the effective delivery of the portfolio;
+ Monitor and manage risks and issues associated with the portfolio;
+ Ensure alignment and optimization of the overall portfolio with the Institute’s overall business and fiscal strategy;
+ Lead and motivate a team of project, program and other technical managers and analysts.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
Requirements:
+ Advance degree in Business, Information, Program or Technology Management;
+ At least 10 years’ experience in leading or managing a project or portfolio management entity;
+ Thorough and applied knowledge of portfolio, program and resource management; preferably in a scientific setting;
+ Experience and success in delivering complex change initiatives;
+ Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
+ Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team.
Nice-to-Haves
+ PMP or PfMP certification
