Business Analyst | Digital Banking

General Description

The Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing current state processes, proposing improvements and detailing the user stories to implement a target state design. This includes analyzing and modeling existing business processes and application functionalities to gain an understanding of the targeted business problem, evaluating possible features and improvements and proposing recommendations. The Business Analyst will also contribute to feature prioritization using metrics, impact analysis and cost/savings ROIs.

The Business Analyst uses modeling tools to document the current state of business processes as well as the desired future state in the form of requirements, user stories and activity diagrams. When designing an application’s target state, the Business Analyst is responsible for the integrity of the requirements from beginning to end. This includes persona identification, use case definition, acceptance criteria and definition of done. The Business Analyst is responsible for the knowledge transfer of business implications to the application/database developers, Product Owners, Quality Assurance Analysts, and project managers. The Business Analyst will also include metrics embedded into every new initiative and is responsible for having those metrics included in divisions Analytics for the ongoing feature performance monitoring.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

+ Design and support business solutions.

+ Understand and interpret business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

+ Develop a strong understanding of the end-to end reporting processes, including production critical path and dependencies on associated business processes, to identify gaps and opportunities for improvements.

+ Ensure adherence to development standards to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions that are robust and, where necessary, scalable.

+ Elicit User Stories – Conduct interviews, workshops, focus groups, brainstorming, observations, and surveys/questionnaires with stakeholders to determine the requirements needed for a new project.

+ User Stories Handshake – Coordinate and document the acceptance and understanding of all stakeholders, including the vendors.

+ Gain a detailed understanding of current capabilities, gaps and opportunities resulting in efficiencies and/or improving the customer experience. Help create competitive differentiation for Popular Inc.

This Job has no supervisory responsibilities but in special circumstances may lead the work of others.

Education

+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or Business Adminsitration

Experience

+ ​​​​​​ Experience in the software development lifecycle, either as a Business Analyst, Product Owner or a business subject matter expert. At least 3 years of banking experience.

Certifications / Licenses

Business Analyst Certification

PMP

Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)

Other Qualifications

+ Proficient in planning discovery activities, mapping business processes, eliciting requirements, and writing user stories.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.

+ Proficiency of MS Office suite is a must – in particularly in Visio, Excel, Word and PowerPoint

+ Working knowledge of Scrum, Agile, SAFe, DevOps, and supporting technologies such as Jira

+ Salesforce implementation experience across the whole Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) is a plus.

+ Experience in managing projects and working on cross functional initiatives is a plus

+ Experience working with development teams is required.
