Job Summary

Comcast Business Public Sector IT is an organization within Comcast’s Technology and Product Division and largely located on the east coast (greater Philadelphia and the DC area). We own the IT applications and infrastructure supporting the Comcast Business Public Sector LOB serving federal and state agencies.

Job Description

In this role, you will have exposure to the entire IT ecosystem supporting our new Comcast Business Public Sector Line of Business (LOB) and ensuring this ecosystem is secure, reliable, resilient, and supports efficient business processes with purpose-built customer centric applications. You will be part of the IT team that will set the IT vision and roadmap for the greenfield eco-system and determine how we work to effectively architect, develop, deploy and support the Public Sector IT applications and Infrastructure.

As an Sr. Engineer of Software Development and Engineering in the Comcast Business Public Sector IT team, you will be responsible for planning and designing new software and web applications. Analyzes, tests and assists with the integration of new applications. Oversees the documentation of all development activity. Trains non-technical personnel. Assists with tracking performance metrics. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.

Core** **Responsibilities

+ Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.

+ Designs new software and web applications, supports applications under development and customizes current applications. Develops software update process for existing applications. Assists in the roll-out of software releases.

+ Trains junior Software Development Engineers on internally developed software applications.

+ Oversees the researching, writing and editing of documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.

+ Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.

+ Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior level Software Development Engineers.

+ Assists in tracking and evaluating performance metrics. Ensures team delivers software on time, to specification and within budget.

+ Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.

+ Displays expertise in knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts and skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.

+ Displays expertise in process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences.

+ Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

+ Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.

Skills & Requirements

+ College degree in business or technical discipline; or equivalent work experience.

+ 5 yrs hands-on experience with CSG Singleview / Encompass Billing Platform as a solution designer / subject matter expert is required.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Familiar with Oracle, RHEL, Web Services

+ Experience with billing platforms and their day-to-day operations

+ SQL Query, programming experience (C++, Perl Script, PL/SQL, Java Script)

+ Ability to interact professionally with all levels in the company.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills and accompanying organizational and follow-up skills

+ Advanced SQL query ability, ad-hoc reporting and billing systems operations and development experience a must.

+ Must be detail-oriented and willingness to continually self-educate

Public Sector Skills & Requirements

+ Successfully pass the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) security process or other clearances as needed
