    Position Summary

    The Digital Pathology Specialist is responsible for supporting all Biopharma and Research projects requiring WSI data and will be expected to operate multiple types of Whole Slide Scanners. The specialist work in collaboration with the digital pathology operations team on a daily basis and will be responsible for retrieval of glass slides (from on-site and off-site repositories) to be digitized, QC by visual or digital inspection of the generated Whole Slide Images and maintaining a comprehensive record of digitized images and associated metadata. This position works under the direction of the Applications Manager and follows standard laboratory procedures and policies.

    Job Responsibilities

    + Perform scanning on multiple types of Whole Slide Scanners in use by the department.

    + Pull slides from file and request/process archived slides off-site, de-identify slides/ images (manually or digitally, depending on the need)

    + Review the generated images for quality issues and maintain very high standards of image quality using visual and digital assessment. Processes re-scans as necessary.

    + Handles image data sharing between different stakeholders.

    + Manages comprehensive records of image data generated and shared over time.

    + Provide supplemental support to the digital pathology operations team including assisting in various projects relating to digital pathology such as project and database development; process development; file and database management; software and hardware troubleshooting and validation; standard operation procedure upkeep.

    + Co-ordinate with all teams to provide access to different image assets and associated metadata

    + Work cross-functionally with various departments including IHC, Lab Operations, Application Development and Engineering.

    + Follow all Standard Operating Procedures and comply with GLP and safety requirements.

    + Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with federal, state and local guidelines and regulations.

    + Accepts other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    + Bachelors degree with preferred major in Biological and/or Physical Sciences: or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + 1+ years of experience with quantitative data analysis required.

    + Conditions of Employment: Individuals must successfully complete pre-employment process, which includes criminal background check, drug screening, and reference verification.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience with whole-slide imaging in support of histopathology data collection and analysis.

    + Demonstrated ability to manage multi-parametric data and familiarity with data analytics tools.

    + Familiarity with histology and handling clinical samples and data.

    + Knowledge of laboratory safety and quality control procedures and regulations.

    Physical Demands

    + Must possess ability to sit, stand, and/or work at a computer for long periods of time.

    + May have exposure to blood-borne pathogens, extreme temperatures, high noise levels, fumes and bio-hazardous material/chemicals including formalin in the lab environment.

    + Visual acuity and analytical skill to distinguish fine detail. Ability to pass a visual color discrimination test.

    + All job specific, safety, and compliance training are assigned based on the job functions associated with this employee.

    Other

    + This position requires periodic travel and some evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
