Job Description
The Accreditation Coordinator provides advanced academic, technical, and administrative support for the university’s institutional and specialized accreditation operations. The Accreditation Coordinator is responsible for developing and managing systematic processes, designing and maintaining information management architecture, and securing accreditor approvals for academic curriculum. The coordinator is responsible for regularly evaluating key processes and systems and preparing analytical reports that include proposals to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiencies. This position maintains currency and fluency in institutional accreditation standards, policies, and procedures and serves as an accreditation operational specialist for the university.
1. Process Design and Management. The Accreditation Coordinator assists the Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness and Academic Quality in developing and managing implementation of ongoing operations that support institutional accreditation including, but not limited to, creating and maintaining information management systems, executing multiple high stakes projects with competing timelines; and administering the accreditor approval process for new and revised academic curriculum. The process design and management duties require competence in the university’s data and operating systems; knowledge of Minnesota State policies, procedures, and bargaining unit agreements; skills in project management; and an understanding of accreditor policies and standards.
Example of process design and management work: The coordinator is responsible to create and maintain an architectural framework (policies, processes and standards) for managing and securing assurance argument evidence so it can be easily accessed and used effectively in various accreditation reports.
Priority: Essential Percent of Time: 40%
2. Operational Evaluation and Reporting. The Accreditation Coordinator regularly evaluates current operations, using evidence-based practices, and prepares comprehensive reports that propose actionable recommendations to enhance the functional effectiveness and efficiencies of essential accreditation processes/systems. The coordinator collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement the recommended improvements and monitors the results. These duties require understanding of the university’s mission as well as the purpose and outcomes of curriculum and accreditation processes/systems; working knowledge of evidence-informed evaluation practices, collaboration skills, and technical skills to prepare successful process change proposals.
Example of operational evaluation and reporting: the coordinator position is responsible for maintaining and annually reporting the university’s specialized accreditations. This responsibility requires developing a systematic process to gather, confirm, document, and publicly communicate the information. The coordinator consults with the accredited programs and other key stakeholders to review the process and its outcomes and discusses methods to enhance effectiveness and efficiency. The coordinator prepares an analytical report, supported with evidence, and a process change proposal. The coordinator collaborates with stakeholders involved in the process to implement changes and monitor outcomes.

3. Institutional Accreditation Communication: The Accreditation Coordinator maintains currency and fluency in institutional accreditation standards, policies, and procedures. The coordinator uses various media to prepare communications for university leaders and the campus community regarding changes in accreditation requirements, implications of policy changes, updates in the university’s status, and training. This position, in partnership with University Communications, manages accreditation content on the university’s external website, university publications, and internal SharePoint sites. This responsibility requires competency in various media; excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to adapt communication content to the intended audience; and a consistent style that aligns with the university’s branding and guidelines.
Example of accreditation communication: Annually, the university is required to submit an Institutional Update Report to our accreditor. The coordinator is responsible for developing and overseeing a systematic process to gather, confirm, and report accurate information to the accreditor as well as communicating the report outcomes to Minnesota State and our campus community using appropriate and relevant media.

4. Administrative Support: The Accreditation Coordinator supports the Associate Provost of Institutional Effectiveness and Academic Quality via schedule management, accreditation training and event coordination, financial management, and accreditation-related document and presentation creation. These duties require organizational skills; understanding of the intersections of assessment of student learning, academic program review, and institutional accreditation; competence in the university’s electronic operating systems; creativity, and professionalism.
Example of administrative support: The coordinator employs their expertise in accreditation standards and policies, complemented by their professional collaborations across campus, to assist in determining campus training needs and developing appropriate training content and delivery. The coordinator creates and implements methods to assess accreditation training effectiveness.

5. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the division and enhance a positive reputation of the University.
Priority: Secondary Percent of Time: 5%
Minimum Qualifications
+ One year of experience performing operational analyses, determining recommendations for improvement, collaborating on process change implementation, and monitoring resulting effectiveness and efficiency.
+ Demonstrated general knowledge of a university’s mission; institutional effectiveness; assessment of student learning; academic program review; accreditation standards; data-informed decision-making; and data/information management systems.
+ Strong analytical, organizational, and written and oral communication skills.
+ Proven ability to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of operational processes and systems.
+ Proven ability to work collaboratively and build commitment to a culture of continuous improvement.
+ Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualification
+ Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. education, higher education administration, data analytics)
+ Professional experience in institutional accreditation within a higher education setting.
