The Pathobiology Research associate will perform routine and specialized histology techniques, wet lab work, data acquisition, and compilation using state-of-the-art molecular pathology techniques.
The incumbent will interface closely with other scientists, veterinary pathologists and histotechnologists in a client environment as well as other cross-functional project teams to provide timely, high-quality data to support the client.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
+ Conduct routine histology techniques including tissue processing, trimming of tissues of diverse origin, embedding, paraffin block microtomy and cryo-sectioning
+ Setup and perform routine pathology staining techniques including H&E and special stains
+ Perform novel molecular pathology assays including IHC, RNAscope, multiplexing using automated platforms (Ventana and Leica) and manual methods
+ Perform routine maintenance and monitoring of laboratory equipment, keep accurate laboratory records, and ensure proper archiving of pathology specimens
+ Perform digital image analyses, while generating quantitative data using a variety of Image analysis softwares (e.g. HALO, MATLAB) to support discovery pathology programs in the client environment.
+ Work with board-certified anatomic pathologists to review, QC, and approve algorithms
+ Careful record keeping, follows good laboratory and GLP-like practices.
Required Education Level and experience
+ bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with 3-4 years of experience
+ master’s degree with 1-2 years of experience
+ Experience working in a research or pharmaceutical-based histology laboratory.
Required Knowledge/Skills
+ Must have experience with histology techniques such as tissue processing and staining
+ Experience with scanning and digital pathology platforms is preferred.
+ Ability to multi-task, prioritize and provide timely, high-quality results on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills are required
Other Requirements
+ ASCP certification (HT or HTL) preferred.

Additional Details:
The position is full-time, first shift, Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. Candidates must be flexible to adapt to schedule changes requiring shift changes and/or weekend work, and overtime may be required as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Boston, MA are encouraged to apply.
