This is a temporary position.
The FLEX Group Account Manager [GAM] provides dedicated account management support in the group segment (large and small meetings). The position will support the Global Account Director (GAD) and/or Global Account Executives (GAEs) in the creation and execution of the group strategy for all Marriott Brand hotels; maintain relationships with all of the accounts’ central group buyers (large and small), liaise with Senior Account Executives in ensuring coverage of non-central buyers, and interact with Marriott's Field sales and Revenue Management teams in executing group leads. Additional responsibilities to include: (1) management of the overall lead process, (2) implementation of group initiatives, (3) intermediary management as appropriate, (4) on-going account service in the group segment, and (5) management of field account team on activities relating to the group segment.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
_Required_
• Group Retail and Entertainment experience and 4 years’ experience in the sales and marketing, guest services, front desk, or related professional area.
OR
• 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 2 years’ experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.
_Preferred_
• Experience in the group meetings segment selling full-service hotels, Entertainment, Intermediary and large complex group business.
• Team-based selling experience.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
• Provide proactive account management with primary focus on the group segment. Maintain mostly telephonic relationship with each accounts’ key group buyers (large and small), intermediaries, and other buyers globally who impact the accounts’ group buying process – either directly or through development of global account team members.
• Assist GAD/GAE with the development and implementation of sales strategies in the group segment
• Handle all aspects of the group lead management process including gather leads response to present to partner as needed, direct Sales Coordinator(s) in the quality control process of lead management prior to customer presentation, ensure timely and thorough correspondence with all hotels regarding lead status and proactively close the business.
• Provide ongoing quality control of account data and management reporting.
• Provide tactical support to all account team members on the group segment.
• Research and analyze account information and relevant data to identify new business opportunities in the group segment and partner with the GAE/GAD to create innovative solutions for the customer.
• Provide project management oversight on the implementation of account-related initiatives in the group segment.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date account information in SFAWeb|CI/TY/EMPOWER.
• Attend and participate in all relevant customer events and trade shows to continue building alliances with intermediaries that bring business to Marriott hotels.
• Translate customer and account needs into a range of support products and services that maximize returns.
• Increase penetration of high potential accounts to optimize demand across all brands and satisfy important property needs.
• Create Strategic Account Plans and coordinate cross-discipline resources (GSO, Market, and Corporate) to ensure pull-through and sustainment of account strategies and selling solutions. Develop a close working relationship with operations and Market resources to establish integrated sales strategies and ensure pull-through of strategies at the hotel level.
• Ensure Strategic Account Plans focus on improving market share, leveraging efficiencies, generating revenue, and reducing overhead globally.
• Create Strategic Marketing and/or Incentive plans in conjunction with assigned partners, utilizing available funds associated with assigned partners, to generate a compelling return on investment for Marriott International.
• Anticipate and identify business opportunities and challenges and respond with a profitable strategy that aligns with overall business direction.
• Champion business transformation and change efforts in support of global Sales and Marketing strategies.
• Achieve account revenue and sales goals as defined by leadership. Develop and achieve operating budgets and manage controllable expenses.
• Submit required reports/data in a timely manner, ensuring delivery deadlines are met.
• Account Management Solutions and assistance with Sales Strategy Execution per the following:
1. **Proactive Account Management** :
+ Maintain telephonic relationships with key group buyers, intermediaries, and other buyers globally.
+ Focus on understanding their needs and preferences to enhance the buying process.
1. **Sales Strategy Development** :
+ Assist GAD/GAE with creating and implementing sales strategies for the group segment.
+ Analyze account information to proactively solicit group business.
+ Partner with SAEs and NGS to manage strategies and close deals.
1. **Lead Management** :
+ Handle all aspects of the group lead management process.
+ Gather leads and present them to partners as needed.
+ Direct Sales Coordinators in quality control of lead management before customer presentation.
+ Ensure timely and thorough correspondence with hotels regarding lead status and proactively close business.
1. **Quality Control** :
+ Provide ongoing quality control of account data and management reporting.
+ Ensure accuracy and reliability of information to support decision-making.
1. **Tactical Support** :
+ Offer tactical support to account team members on the group segment.
+ Assist with various tasks to ensure smooth operations and effective sales processes.
1. **Research and Analysis** :
+ Identify new business opportunities in the group segment.
+ Partner with GAE/GAD to create innovative solutions for customers.
+ Analyze relevant data to inform strategies and recommendations.
1. **Project Management** :
+ Oversee the implementation of account-related initiatives.
+ Ensure projects are completed on time and meet objectives.
1. **Account Information Maintenance** :
+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date account information in SFAWeb|CI/TY/EMPOWER.
+ Regularly update records to reflect current status and activities.
1. **Customer Events Participation** :
+ Attend and participate in customer events and trade shows.
+ Build alliances with intermediaries that bring business to Marriott hotels.
+ Represent the company and network with potential clients.
1. **Operational Excellence** :
+ Direct streamlined administrative functions to maintain operational excellence.
+ Ensure the latest sales tools and value-added products are leveraged effectively.
+ Optimize productivity and build sustainable competitive advantage.
The pay range for this position is $35.48 to $65.05 per hour.
Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.0334 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 9 holidays annually.
