The Coordinator of Fraternity & Sorority Life serves as an essential member of the staff in both advising and programming. The main objective of the Coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life is to provide support for the Division of Student Affairs Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life. This position develops, organizes, and delivers high-quality programs for our defined student populations and will regularly supervise student workers and implement and or participate in division and other major campus programming initiatives.
All staff members are directly involved in student group advising, leadership training and development, and community promotion in addition to coordinating services and programs. An expectation for staff is to advise, counsel, and serve as advocates for students experiencing difficulties or crises.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree.
One (1) or more years related work experience.
An equivalent level of education and/or experience is acceptable.
Preferred Education and Experience:
+ Knowledge and practice of current fraternity and sorority issues, counseling and advising practices, and risk management policies.
+ The ability to articulate educational values of fraternities and sororities and the ways in which sororities and fraternities create and support belonging within the college community.
+ Bachelor’s degree. One to three years of related work experience; preference will be given to experience in higher education. An equivalent level of education and/or experience is acceptable.
+ Undergraduate membership in a recognized fraternity or sorority.
+ Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills as well as conflict resolution techniques.
+ Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and perform work with a high degree of accuracy over extended periods of time.
+ Ability to work nights and weekend hours as related to specific programs and services associated with this position and the department.
+ Represent Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life at various community and/or university committees and task forces, promoting existing and new opportunities and/or policies.
+ Strength in working as one part of a dynamic and motivated team of professionals.
+ Positive, collaborative attitude that creates spaces for support, encouragement, and development.
+ Demonstrated success in event planning and management.
+ Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and students face to face.
