    Senior Tax Accountant (Non-Income/Indirect Tax)

    Boston, Massachusetts

    Position Overview:

    The Senior Tax Accountant (Non-Income/Indirect Tax) is responsible for managing and overseeing the company's non-income tax obligations, including sales and use tax, property tax and other indirect taxes. This role involves ensuring compliance with state and local tax regulations, conducting tax research, preparing, and reviewing tax returns, and supporting tax audits. The position will support and be supported by the Kelly Services tax team (owners of MRP). Role is remote but prefer someone in Atlanta or Boston.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    + **Tax Compliance:**

    + Prepare and review state and local sales and use tax returns, property tax returns, and other non-income tax filings.

    + Ensure timely and accurate filing of all non-income tax returns and payments.

    + Maintain comprehensive records of all tax filings and payments.

    + **Tax Research and Planning:**

    + Conduct research and work closely with the Kelly Services tax team on state and local tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

    + **Audit Support:**

    + Manage and coordinate responses to tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.

    + Gather and prepare documentation to support tax positions during audits.

    + Collaborate with external advisors and legal counsel on complex tax issues.

    + **Process Improvement:**

    + Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the tax compliance function.

    + Develop and maintain tax compliance policies and procedures.

    + Stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements in tax compliance.

    + **Internal Collaboration:**

    + Provide tax guidance and support to various departments, including finance, procurement, and operations.

    + Work closely with the accounting team to ensure proper tax reporting and reconciliation.

    + Assist in the preparation of tax-related disclosures for financial statements.

    + **Training and Development:**

    + Stay current with continuing professional education (CPE) requirements and industry developments.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.

    + CPA, CMA, or other relevant certification preferred.

    + Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with familiarity on non-income tax items.

    + Strong knowledge of state and local tax regulations, including sales and use tax, property tax, and other state & local taxes, preferred.

    + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

    + Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

    + Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

    + Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
