Job Summary and Qualifications

The Radiology department Secretary performs a range of clerical duties supporting the work of the department managing the daily operations of the unit. You will serve as an important link in the communication chain ensuring information is transmitted between nursing personnel, other hospital personnel, physicians, patients, family members and other guests

+ You will act as the unit receptionist greeting and direct visitors professionally and cordially

+ Keys appropriate information into computer system to provide requisitions to work areas. Telephones each area as patients arrive.

+ Answer telephone professionally and efficiently, providing appropriate information to caller. Records accurate messages and distributes within the hour.

+ Prepare report copies, accurately completing appropriate forms.

+ Maintain office/departmental files and office supplies

+ Provide procedure preparation instructions to patients along with the appropriate preparatory agents or oral contrast media as required for specific studies

+ Distribute and/or mails signed radiology reports to designated areas.

What qualifications you will need:

**•** Previous experience as a Unit Secretary in a hospital setting is preferred.

• Strong customer service and excellent English communication skills

• Familiarity with medical terminology

• Computer literate (ability to utilize computer programs such as Meditech, Word, Excel, etc.)

• Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching and some lifting
