Job Description and Duties
The CalSTRS Benefits and Services Branch is seeking a highly motivated individual to work as a Survivor Benefits Production Support Senior Analyst in the Disability and Survivor Benefits Division.
The Benefits and Services Branch includes Service Retirement, Disability and Survivor Benefits, Member Account Services, Customer Service and Retirement Readiness Divisions. The Benefits and Services Branch directly supports the organization’s mission to secure the financial future and sustain the trust of California’s educators.
Survivor Benefits (SB) plays a critical and rewarding role in supporting our members' beneficaries during some of their most difficult times. Within Survivor Benefits exists the Production Support Team, which is dedicated to mitigating the risk of benefit overpayments and fraud by researching, identifying, and resolving indirect notifications of death for CalSTRS members and beneficiaries. The team also provides administrative and analytical support to our partnering production team, serving as a key resource for ongoing operations.
The Senior Analyst will work closely with the manager and team members to independently perform a wide range of complex analytical duties and ensure timely responses to sensitive and high profile inquiries. This role also serves as a subject matter expert for less experienced staff and participates in cross-functional projects. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate leadership skills, are effective problem solvers, and possess resilience, a positive outlook, and a strong desire to help others - all while maintaining a clear focus on the rules and laws that guide our business decisions.

Every 12 months, based on performance evaluation, employees may receive a 5% salary increase until they reach the maximum salary for the position.

Working Conditions
CalSTRS offers a hybrid approach including in-office and remote work solutions based on business needs.
All staff of CalSTRS are employees of the State of California and subject to California employment taxes and withholdings. Upon appointment, staff are required to provide a current California address to CalSTRS Human Resources to be used as a remote work location.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment with CalSTRS.

Background Investigation
