    The starting rate for this position is: $33.43 per hour

    Summary

    The Senior Accountant is responsible and manages the accounting function for all Covenant Health organization’s fixed assets, donor-restricted assets and investments, endowments, pledges, restricted net asset funds and net assets released from restriction. Management responsibility includes the monitoring and analyzation of accounting data and producing accurate period end financial reports or statements as required. Senior Accountant enforces proper GAAP accounting methodology, policies and principles to safeguard organizational assets.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Supports and promotes the mission and values of the Covenant Health Ministry.

    + Responsible for the full accounting and monthly and annual reporting related to fixed assets, donor-restricted assets and investments, endowments, pledges, restricted net asset funds and net assets released from restriction.

    + Interacts with financial leadership regarding the financial recording of net assets with donor restrictions.

    + Develops consistent corporate processes for fixed assets and restricted assets and net assets.

    + Prepares month-end standard and general journal entries and posts into the current ERP accounting system.

    + Assists financial management with external auditors for interim and year-end audit by reconciling responsible accounts; prepares audit schedules and footnotes as assigned and interacts with auditors as necessary.

    + Manages general ledger account balances and reconciles balances on timely basis.

    + Completes reconciliation of monthly investment statements to GL on monthly basis.

    + Practices continuous performance improvement regarding processes in Finance.

    + Must adhere to deadlines as well as an attention to accuracy.

    + Other duties as consistent with this role.

    Job Requirements

    Job Knowledge and Skills

     

    + Requires solid management skills, working knowledge of GAAP with strong financial analysis skills and critical thinking.

    + Possesses advanced Excel skills and is proficient in other Microsoft applications.

    + Experience with Accounting and ERP software systems.

    + Incumbent will be self-directed and require little oversight in performance of duties.

    + Candidate will possess excellent inter-personal skills to successfully work with others.

    + Requires analytical and conceptual thinking ability, team building ability, with an emphasis on performance and achievement.

    + Requires ability to affect change management, and commitment to customer-focused management of services.

    + Requires attention to detail, meeting deadlines, organizational skills and accuracy.

     

    Education and Experience

     

    + Bachelor of Science in Finance or Accounting required

    + Master’s Degree in Business management or Health Care a plus

     

    An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

     

    Working Conditions/Physical Demands

     

    Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs. Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care.
