Summary: The ClarkDietrich Engineering Services (CDES) Intelligent Systems Engineer Intern role is a cross-functional position where a foundational understanding of AI, back-end development, or user interface design is required. The position will also involve applying Agentic AI, LLMs, and automation to real world engineering problems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Assist with implementing AI models into server-side applications * Help coordinate with IT team to ensure server systems requirements are met for AI deployment * Help train and fine-tune models under guidance of ML Engineer including dataset preparation, parameter tuning, and validating performance before integration into production systems * Collaborate with other developers to build user interfaces that expose AI functionality to users * Prepare, clean, and structure engineering datasets for ML workflows * Build and test API connections between ML models and back-end applications * Collaborate with front-end developers and system engineers to integrate AI-driven functionality into intuitive user interfaces * Help implement agentic workflows and prompt engineering strategies using LLMs * Contribute to system integration efforts across services (AI, UI, data pipelines, back-end) * Document tools, workflows, and models as part of technical handoff and validation processes Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in: o Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or C# o AI/ML frameworks o Back-end development and API integration o Front-end technologies * Knowledge of AI/ML model development, training, and integration * Experience with system integration between back-end, front-end, and ML pipelines * Exposure to data engineering & analysis * Experience with the development of tools and interfaces for intelligent automation * Exposure to ethical & security considerations for safeguarding AI-driven systems * Familiarity with Agentic AI concepts and LLM fine-tuning Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field Language Skills: N/A Mathematical Skills: Exceptional math skills Reasoning Ability: Abstract reasoning ability Physical Demands: N/A Work Environment: Office environment Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Protected Veterans/Disabled
