Job Title: Accounting Manager
My client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee full-cycle accounting operations. This role involves preparing and reviewing consolidated financial statements for a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) and the broader enterprise. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of GAAP and accounting best practices, exhibit critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Leadership and mentoring abilities are essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Oversee monthly corporate reporting, including monitoring the close process for accuracy and timeliness, reviewing journal entries, workpapers, reconciliations, and analyzing financial results.
+ Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements (GAAP and FMV basis) for the enterprise, including reconciling intercompany activity and preparing disclosures.
+ Manage and mentor staff and senior accountants to promote development.
+ Provide oversight for monthly property operating reports prepared by third-party property managers.
+ Research and apply financial reporting standards, preparing technical accounting memos and analyses as needed.
+ Assist with implementing financial systems and managing system administration processes.
+ Take the lead in the annual budgeting process, reviewing budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analyses for corporate entities and operational companies.
+ Deliver timely and accurate reporting to both internal and external stakeholders, including lenders, investors, and other key partners.
+ Partner with other departments, such as property management, asset management, construction, and investor relations, to provide financial and operational support.
+ Ensure compliance with internal controls over financial reporting while upholding best practices in financial accountability.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
+ Experience in public audit or real estate accounting highly preferred.
+ Minimum of 6+ years of relevant accounting experience.
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
+ Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Familiarity with financial software systems such as RealPage and Sage Intacct is a plus.
+ Excellent communication and leadership skills.
+ CPA qualification strongly preferred.
