Description
My client in Loudon County, VA, a well-respected, well-established, and growing ($2B+ in revenue) construction company, is looking for a detail-oriented project accountant to join their team. This role focuses on managing financial operations for construction projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, compliance, and profitability analysis. You will be assigned a very large construction project along with smaller less complex projects. This job is primarily onsite 4-5 days. This is a project accountant position and the company favors candidates with construction experience.
+ Project Billings: Compile, prepare, and analyze monthly project billings in accordance with contract requirements.
+ Financial Analysis: Perform financial analysis and reconcile project costs against the project budget.
+ Vendor Compliance Management: Oversee vendor compliance, including managing insurance, lien waivers, retention, and W-9s.
+ Cost Tracking and Reporting: Produce and analyze job performance and profitability through job cost tracking reports.
+ Status Reporting and Budget Maintenance: Assist in the preparation of status reports while maintaining accurate project statuses and budget information.
+ Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve both basic and complex project-related accounting issues in a timely manner.

Requirements
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
+ 3+ years’ of project accounting experience preferred
+ Strong accounting knowledge
+ Very strong MS Excel experience
+ Proficiency in construction accounting practices, including job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting.
• Familiarity with accounting for commercial construction projects.
• Strong analytical abilities to assess financial performance and profitability.
• Knowledge of vendor compliance requirements, including insurance and lien waiver processes.
