Job Title: Payroll Accountant

Department: Accounting

Our client, a growing company in the non-automotive manufacturing and technology sector, is seeking a reliable and detail-driven Payroll Accountant to join their Accounting team. This role is essential to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data across payroll, accounts payable, journal entries, reconciliations, and audit support. The Payroll Accountant will report directly to the Assistant Controller and is expected to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Maintain and process payroll data including wages, commissions, bonuses, time records, paid time off, deductions, and withholdings.

+ Ensure compliance in processing payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other withholdings.

+ Reconcile payroll transactions to the general ledger and monthly bank activity.

+ Issue and reissue payments or corrections related to payroll discrepancies or terminations.

+ Provide support to the accounts payable function through invoice data entry and issue resolution.

+ Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned areas.

+ Participate in the month-end and year-end close processes.

+ Adhere to established accounting policies and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

+ Support external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

+ Remain current on relevant accounting standards and practices.

+ Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.

Requirements • Associate degree in Accounting or equivalent experience; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• At least 2–3 years of accounting experience, with a focus on payroll and accounts payable.

• Familiarity with multi-state payroll and accrual-based accounting practices.

• Proficiency in accounting software; experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is a plus.

• Previous exposure to government contracting environments is highly desirable.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on meeting deadlines.
