When you join as a Regional Planner, you’ll be responsible for the following:
• Collaborating with local, state, and federal agencies on transit and planning projects
• Preparing official correspondence, including writing concisely about topics that require multiple sources and perspectives
• Reviewing planning documents including Capital Programming documents (e.g., Consolidated Transportation Program), Long Range Transportation Plan, Transportation Improvement Program, Master Plans, Project Prioritization, etc.
• Producing and managing cashflows for projects
• Developing public facing materials that communicate complex transit concepts and data
• Preparing and presenting materials to internal and external stakeholders
• Identifying planning strategies to support local and regional planning projects
• Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Policy, Urban Studies, or related fields
• Three to five years of professional experience working for a regional planning or transit agency, local jurisdiction, and/or state or federal agency
• Experience collaborating with local, state, and federal agencies
• Understanding of basic United States transit principles, operating practices, and the transportation project lifecycle (funding types, major phases, environmental considerations, etc.)
• Strong written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate across multiple media with both internal and external stakeholders
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Local to the Baltimore-Metro area
Ideally, you’ll also have:
• Familiarity with the Baltimore and Washington metropolitan regions and the agencies working within these areas (e.g., Maryland Transit Administration, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, and local transit operators)
• Master’s degree in Planning or related fields
