    Description

    Robert Half is seeking a skilled Senior System Administrator to join a local client in the shipbuilding industry. This role will play a key role in supporting IT infrastructure, leading migration projects, and mentoring junior team members.

     

    Duration: Contract-to-hire

     

    Schedule: Monday-Friday (8-5pm; on-call shifts upon conversion)

    Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

    + Provide mentorship and technical leadership to Level 1 and 2 administrators

    + Support Microsoft 365 cloud migration projects

    + Maintain and support IT infrastructure including systems, backups, and security

    + Utilize PowerShell and SCCM for scripting and automation

    + Assist in migrating on-prem SharePoint and Exchange environments to Microsoft 365 cloud

    Requirements

    + Microsoft 365: Experience with migrations and/or implementations

    + Operating Systems: Strong experience with Windows Server; basic knowledge of Linux/Unix (including Red Hat 12)

    + VMware: Advanced knowledge and experience

    + Citrix: Open to candidates with relevant experience

    + Veeam: Proficient in backup and recovery solutions using Veeam

    Nice-to-Haves:

    + Application support experience

    + Industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft, VMware)

    Technology Stack & Tools:

    + Operating Systems: Windows Server 2016, 2019, upcoming 2025; Red Hat Linux

    + Virtualization: VMware (vSphere, vCenter – 95% of the environment is VMware-based)

    + Backup & Recovery: Veeam (in use), Zerto (disaster recovery – under review)

    + Scripting/Automation: PowerShell (primary), SCCM

    + Security & Compliance: Familiarity with NIST 800-171 and CMMC; uses Nexgen Firewalls
