Description

We are looking for a highly skilled Attorney with a strong background in tax and estate planning to join our team in Virginia. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented legal expert who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about helping high-net-worth clients preserve and grow their wealth. The position involves working on complex legal structures, managing client entities, and providing strategic guidance on wealth transfer and tax planning.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and manage estate planning documents, including trusts and wills, ensuring they align with client goals.

• Provide leadership in developing and implementing intergenerational wealth transfer strategies, including charitable giving and family partnerships.

• Collaborate with financial advisors, accountants, and external legal teams to create and execute sophisticated planning frameworks.

• Oversee the operations of client entities, including managing distributions, gifts, and regular financial transactions.

• Utilize advanced tax planning software to model scenarios and present optimal strategies to clients.

• Stay updated on changes in federal and state tax laws, proactively adjusting client plans to maintain compliance and effectiveness.

• Offer internal training on estate and income tax planning and act as a key resource for complex legal inquiries.

• Participate in the preparation and review of compliance filings, reports, and other critical documentation.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) is required; an LL.M. in Taxation is strongly preferred.

• A minimum of 5–7 years of experience specializing in estate, gift, and income tax planning.

• Expertise in wealth transfer and estate structuring for high-net-worth ($50M and over) individuals and families.

• Experience using advanced tax modeling tools such as Bloomberg (BNA/Bloomberg Tax Planning software) or similar software.

• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to clients and team members.

• Prior experience working in a family office, private wealth law firm, or similar high-touch advisory environment.

• Strong analytical and organizational skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
