Description We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Public Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Overland Park, Kansas. In this role, you will contribute to key accounting functions, including balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in accounting systems and processes while working in a dynamic and focused environment.
Responsibilities:
• Perform detailed balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare and post adjusting, ledger, and month-end journal entries as required.
• Support month-end and year-end close procedures by compiling financial data and ensuring accurate reporting.
• Utilize accounting software, including Sage Intacct and Microsoft Excel, to manage financial records effectively.
• Review and analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
• Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Assist in preparing documentation for audits and compliance requirements.
• Maintain organized and accurate financial records to support reporting and decision-making.
• Provide recommendations for process improvements to enhance efficiency in accounting operations.
• Ensure all accounting tasks comply with company policies and regulatory standards. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems, including Sage Intacct and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong knowledge of balance sheet account reconciliation and journal entry preparation.
• Experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ability to analyze financial data and resolve discrepancies effectively.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet deadlines.
