Description We are looking for a skilled Medical Billing & Collections Specialist to join a dynamic healthcare organization in Richmond, Virginia. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing the revenue cycle by handling insurance claims, addressing billing inquiries, and ensuring timely collections. Responsibilities:
• Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using electronic medical records systems, such as Epic or Cerner.
• Investigate and resolve issues related to unpaid or denied claims, ensuring billing discrepancies are addressed promptly.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing, providing clear and precise communication about their accounts.
• Oversee collections processes, including negotiating payment plans with patients when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and industry standards throughout all billing and collection activities.
• Post payments and reconcile accounts according to established clinic policies and procedures.
• Maintain detailed and organized records of billing and collection activities in the system.
• Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall efficiency in revenue cycle operations. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and collections.
• Associates degree or certification in medical billing and coding is preferred.
• Proficiency in electronic medical records systems, such as Epic or Cerner.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare billing regulations, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance processes.
• Certifications like Certified Biller (CPB) or Certified Coder (CPC) are highly desirable.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage high-volume workloads independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Attention to detail and critical thinking skills to identify and resolve billing discrepancies effectively.
