Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a well established and growing real estate company in Kansas City, Missouri. In this role, you will manage accounting functions for various entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established financial principles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and a passion for maintaining organized and confidential financial records. Responsibilities:

• Process accounts payable by uploading and entering vendor invoices in Yardi, adding general ledger codes when necessary, and issuing weekly payments.

• Assist with cash receipts by remotely depositing checks, maintaining accurate records, and updating accounts receivable for various divisions.

• Manage tenant lease details in Yardi, including inputting lease information, calculating additional rents, and preparing tenant charges promptly.

• Oversee accounts receivable processes, such as depositing funds, entering cash receipts, and coordinating with property managers to resolve discrepancies.

• Review and approve non-utility invoices, ensuring proper GL coding, accurate posting periods, and adequate cash balances before finalizing payments.

• Maintain detailed depreciation schedules for assets and amortization schedules for intangible assets using Sage software.

• Prepare and deliver monthly and quarterly financial statements tailored to the needs of assigned entities.

• Track and manage job costs for tenant improvements while reviewing construction management fees to ensure accuracy.

• Support property managers by assisting with tenant communications regarding charges and account details when necessary.

• Perform bank reconciliations and adjustments to maintain accurate financial records.

Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Business with a major in Accounting.

• At least 1 year of experience, preferably in commercial real estate accounting.

• Proficiency in Yardi software and Sage accounting systems.

• Strong command of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks, identify and correct discrepancies, and adapt to changing priorities.

• Familiarity with accrual accounting and month-end close processes.

• Experience in CAM reconciliations and lease agreement management.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
