    Position Description

    Tacoma Power's Power Management division is looking for a Residential Energy Programs Intern to join their team.

     

    This is a limited-duration entry level position for students enrolled in a college program and up to one year post graduation, intended to provide exposure and experience with the services offered by Tacoma Power. The position will assist Tacoma Power in delivering value to its customers and the community through conservation programs, energy education and outreach at community events. The efforts this position will assist with include but are not limited to; c onducting basic electrification assessments to customers, preparing reports, reviewing processes and recommending improvements to increase efficiencies and program participation, engaging with customers participating in conservation programs, and at community events; giving presentations to community groups like neighborhood councils and environmental clubs; reviewing rebate applications for eligibility.

    Responsibilities Include:

    + Conduct basic electrification assessments to Tacoma Power customers. Assist field staff with energy audits to assess energy efficiency needs, prepare energy audit and electrification assessment reports that include recommendations to improve energy efficiency, inform on appropriate programs available, and explain programs and processes.

    + Review conservation rebate and electrification projects for eligibility and update information on internal software systems. Provide initial screening and analysis for program inquiries. Examine submittals of technical product documents for accuracy and completeness. Engage with customers: explain program requirements and processes, work closely with customers to ensure smooth processing of projects by providing hands-on concierge service from initial application and bid process through installation and inspection.

    + Assist in planning, logistics, and staffing to represent Tacoma Power at various events (primarily evenings and weekends) to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy programs and services offered by the utility.

    + Assist the Residential Customer Energy Programs team in meeting program objectives as assigned.

    + Research new efficiency related topics.

    + Audit conservation program documents on sharepoint and rebate processing software how to’s, provide recommendations for updates, organization, and clarity.

     

    The expected duration of the internship is one year, 40 hours per week regular business hours, Monday through Friday.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education*

    High School Diploma or GED

    Minimum Experience*

    1 year of post-high school training

    *Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education

     

    Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements

     

    Depending on assignment, some positions may require a valid Washington State Driver's License
