JOB SUMMARY:
The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for providing individual and group clinical supervision in accordance with American Psychological Association (APA), National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and American Mental Health Counselors Association standards and guidelines to licensed and unlicensed counseling staff in various modalities.
SALARY INFORMATION:
In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is $90 - $100 per hour. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.
REPORTS TO: Director of Counseling and Support Services
RESPONSIBILTIES & DUTIES:
+ Provide clinical supervision to a team of clinicians with various clinical orientations and training backgrounds. This may include practicum students.
+ The emphasis of the clinical supervision includes meeting clinical benchmarks for quality care and productivity, and ensuring proper care is being provided in accordance with evidence informed best practices.
+ Maintain a safe and confidential space to deliver supervision virtually.
+ Provide developmental performance feedback to help clinicians improve their skills.
+ Consult with SCC administrative staff on matters related to counselor workload and performance.
+ Effectively communicate program, administrative, and clinical expectations and policies/procedures to supervisees; ensure compliance with state and federal mandates.
+ Review clinical documentation for completeness, consistency, and quality of mental health services provided, including application of proper techniques.
+ Participate in select Case Conference meetings.
+ Participate in select training opportunities.
+ Participate in High-Risk Case Conference meetings.
+ Participate in interview process for counselors and practicum students.
+ Remain updated on delivering ethical and effective clinical supervision by abiding by NY State and national legal and ethical policies.
+ Consult with administrative staff on ways to improve the overall operations of the SCC.
+ Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
+ Demonstrated track record of working effectively with diverse populations.
+ Ability to foster an environment of accountability and continuous improvement.
+ Knowledge of professional standards, policies and procedures related to the delivery of clinical services within a higher education setting.
+ History of training in evidence-based practices in college mental health, including brief therapy modalities, insight-oriented approaches, trauma-informed care, harm reduction models, co-occurring disorders, drug and alcohol assessment and treatment, self-injurious behaviors, gender identity, anger management, and eating disorders.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
+ Competency with differential diagnosis and use of DSM-5-TR.
+ Demonstrated ability to address suicide risk assessment and intervention, crisis response and intervention, and manage complex clinical situations.
+ Demonstrated ability to provide quality and culturally-sensitive clinical services and clinical supervision.
+ Strong computer skills and proficiency in using Google’s G-Suite, Windows, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Experience with Titanium Schedule EMR counseling center management software is a plus.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
+ A New York State license to practice mental health in good standing is required.
+ Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology is required.
+ Minimum of seven years post-licensure work experience that includes at least five years clinical supervisory experience.
+ Experience with triage, crisis intervention, biopsychosocial intake, and individual and group psychotherapy.
+ Recent clinical experience in a university/college counseling center preferred.
