Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Marketing Office on Langley Air Force Base, VA. This is a Regular Full Time position that is guaranteed 35 hours per week but can be scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week. The primary function of the position is to develop, create, edit and produce artistically appealing, creative and imaginative visual products for the purpose of advertising and publicity of Force Support events and activities. Responsibilities Responsible for developing artistically appealing creative and imaginative visual illustrations through maintaining a strong website/social media presence and print products for the purpose of promoting Force Support events and activities. Uses computer software such as Adobe Creative Design Suite, CS4 and above to develop and create a variety of media publications; develops materials such as illustrations, charts, graphs, design layouts, posters, flyers, brochures, calendars, etc. Manage project timeline and workflow to meet assigned deadlines. Determines the reproduction quality of illustrations, crops and scales photos, and prepares art and copy for commercial printer and website/social media outlets. Creates and maintains web site page graphics/layout, updates information continuously on web page and social media platforms such as Facebook, mobile app, etc. Designs all graphic materials for production on available equipment or for use by outside media sources. Writes and promotes articles about base programs and events. Writes, edit and add artistic appeal and creativity to marketing material. Assists in determining marketing techniques and strategies to increase efficiency, enhance participation and increase financial income to FSS activities. Additional responsibilities include processing marketing requests, assisting personnel by creating marketing materials for electronic publications & website, updating website, taking photographs or recording FSS events, assisting Marketing Director with marketing research by designing surveys, conducting general office duties. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience: Experience with Adobe Creative Design Suite programs (Illustrator, In Design, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and Flash) and Word Press, Microsoft Office programs (Word, Power Point, Excel, and Access) at the level required to accomplish the assigned production tasks. Prior professional experience in graphic design and computer layout with graphics based computer hardware and software. Basic familiarity and understanding of concepts associated with publishing (print and web). Knowledge of correspondence, formats, grammar and spelling. Experience must have demonstrated the ability to perform research, select, arrange, compose and layout of marketing/advertising principles and practices. Ability to communicate in writing and verbally, on a professional level, with co-workers, Leadership, clients and outside entities. Experience working with commercial printers is a plus. Bachelor of Fine Arts Design is preferred but not required. Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
