    Job Description

    The staff Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating and treating patients and facilitating rehabilitation and independence. They develop and design treatment plans for physically, mentally and/or emotionally disabled patients. The Occupational Therapist enables, enhances and improves patients ability to gain independent, productive daily living and working environments.

    Qualifications

    _Requirements:_

    + Master's degree in Occupational Therapy

    + Current NYS Occupational Therapy licensure and registration

    + 0-2 years’ experience as an Occupational Therapist

    + BLS certification (American Heart Association)

    + National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred

    Responsibilities

    _Roles & Responsibilities:_

    + Plan, organize, and conduct occupational therapy programs in hospital settings to help rehabilitate those impaired because of illness, injury or psychological or developmental problems.

    + Evaluates patients' progress and prepare reports that detail progress.

    + Documents therapy activities and maintains necessary records in patient files, assist in the evaluations and rehabilitation of assigned patient’s medical/psychiatric conditions by conferring with social worker, nurses and other disciplines.

    + Trains and educates caregivers how to provide for the needs of the patients during and after therapy.

    + Recommends changes in patients' work or living environments that is consistent with their needs and capabilities.

    + Consult with rehabilitation team to select activity programs and coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities such as vocational rehabilitation or social services based on psychological, physical or vocational needs.

    + Corresponds with insurance companies to gain approval of adaptive equipment.

    + Performs other related duties.

    Compensation Statement

    Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $60.44 - $60.44 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
