    Job Title: CEMS Technician

    Job Description

    The CEMS Technician plays a critical role in providing installation, maintenance, and operational services for Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) at various industrial client sites both locally and nationwide. This position requires light traveling to client sites, sometimes spending a few days at each location, to ensure the accurate, stable, and ongoing operation of equipment. The technician is responsible for maintaining positive relationships with clients and outside agency representatives while contributing to company objectives through increased knowledge and skills.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform third-party EPA air emissions testing and monitoring for industrial or manufacturing clients.

    + Transport equipment to sites using a company vehicle, and set up and break down testing equipment.

    + Record data and collect samples while ensuring equipment calibrations.

    + Assist engineers in air quality testing procedures and adhere to environmental, health, and safety protocols.

    + Organize and load testing equipment into vehicles for upcoming jobs.

    + Maintain and clean testing equipment.

    + Study for and obtain certifications for EPA Test Methods 1-5 using company resources.

    + Provide field support in an industrial setting to ensure accurate and ongoing operation of equipment.

    + Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain continuous emissions monitoring equipment at customer sites.

    + Perform routine and preventive maintenance on client equipment.

    + Provide technical support to clients via telephone and email.

    + Document and provide feedback on work performed to clients and internal resources.

    + Consult with clients to explore needs and develop action plans.

    + Communicate with clients to implement corrective actions when necessary.

    + Support and comply with all safety requirements associated with the position.

    + Drive company vehicles safely and responsibly.

    + Project a professional image of the company at all times.

    + Perform in-house equipment repair, fabrication, and maintenance.

    + Understand and follow company policies and procedures.

    + Render other services and duties as assigned.

    Essential Skills

    + High School Diploma required.

    + 1+ year of experience in a field testing/maintenance, industrial, or physical labor role.

    + Candidates must be open to regional travel each week, staying overnight in hotels.

    + Previous experience in a field-based, hands-on position.

    + Mechanical aptitude and comfort working at heights.

    + Ability to lift up to 75 lbs to set up testing equipment.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + B.S. Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or related field preferred.

    + Team player mentality.

    Work Environment

     

    The work environment involves fieldwork at industrial sites such as power plants, steel mills, refineries, and manufacturing plants. Many jobs require setting up tests at heights ranging from 100 to 400 feet above ground level, where temperatures are lower and winds are higher, necessitating extra layers of clothing. Workdays in the field typically range from 8 to 10+ hours, whereas warehouse days are 8 hours. Team sizes vary from 3 to 20 members depending on the project. Attire includes jeans, long-sleeve t-shirts, boots, coats, and stocking caps for colder months. The role requires flexibility with travel, ranging from single-day jobs to week-long assignments, with occasional weekend work. Consistency of work can vary due to weather conditions, with warehouse or home office work available during inclement weather or slower seasons. Larger projects may require extended hours, up to 60 hours per week, including site work and paid travel time.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $39.00/hr.
